We run through the latest grain and livestock closes, then zoom out to the weather and report-day risks that can reshape the week. We also talk through PRRS pressure in hogs, a fertilizer duties headline, and why Europe’s dryness matters without automatically driving the US market.
• Grain markets close lower across soybeans, corn, and wheat
• Livestock markets soften with heat risk building in cattle country
• Hot overnight lows and extended above-normal temps, plus a practical concern for feedlot performance
• USDA Acreage and Quarterly Stocks timing and why report day matters
• Monthly subscription details for premium Ag Bull Intel
• PRRS remains severe in summer, with heavy losses and big industry costs
• Fertilizer risk context tied to Morocco phosphate duties and where to read more
• France and Europe rainfall outlook and how it may moderately affect global grain markets
Be sure to tune in. Davis does a heck of a show, and we wouldn't want you to miss it.

Good morning and welcome to Ag Squawk AM. Jed Sidwell here live from Joliet, Illinois. We have a heck of a show planned for you today. We're gonna talk about PRRSV, the temperatures

in France, and several other things that should be on your calendar for the day. I'm really excited to get into it. Let's go ahead and roll the intro. Well, let's quote the markets and where they closed yesterday, shall we? Grains, soybeans closed at 1124, even down 17 and a half. Corn at 410 and a

quarter, down eleven and a half. Wheat at 579 and three quarters down ten. Those are all the SEP contracts. We always like to just go off of the ones that have the most volume. On the livestock side of things, we kind of saw a similar trend as we did last week. Live cattle were at 243 and a half down two and a quarter. Feeder cattle were at 369 and a half down $2.38. Lean hogs were at 93, 83 down 90 cents, not quite a dollar. It'd be interesting to see as the heat picks up in cattle country what that does to live cattle here in the next upcoming weeks. Speaking of heat, let's roll on to the weather, shall we? Overnight lows were above 80 degrees in big cities like Minneapolis, Des Moines, and Omaha this week, setting

kind of some records there. And man, it's hard to cool down at night when it stays that hot. Uh, we're gonna see strictly above normal temps in the wheat belt and feedlot country this week for kind of the next 15 days. 95 degrees will kind of be the norm through those areas, unfortunately. So say your prayers for black-hided feedlot cattle because they're gonna be needing them this week as that weather moves in with that kind of heat. Go ahead and have your fingers crossed there. We're gonna have a hundred percent read or 100% weather through the southern plains this week as well, down into Texas. So be prepared for the 4th of July scorcher. We have a report day slide up again because today is report day. The USDA Acreage and Quarterly Stocks comes out at 11 a.m. Stay tuned there for updates. I'm sure

Davis will be talking about it this evening on Ag Squawk with his guest. Be sure to tune in. Davis does a heck of a show and we wouldn't want you to miss it. Well, the big discussion right now on our Ag Bull crew is our monthly subscription. It's $25 a month or $250 annually

to get premium Ag Bull Intel. We'd love to have you as part of the team. You get tons of interesting things to read about there. And man, if you really want to stay informed, I think it's the best way to do so. Well, back to our kind of livestock discussion, and the hog world has been really concerned with PRRS right now, porcine reproductive

and respiratory syndrome. Normally it gets a break in the summer when things dry up and coughs kind of go away, but man, not this year. The heat has not staved off this from Faroe to Finnish. We're looking at a 25% mortality rate, unfortunately, costing the industry 1.2 billion. Thought this chart was really interesting to see that normal range that we fall in cyclically, we're almost about to break out of it there. Well, I talked about our premium side and I talked about our website. The big headline Mr. Wiesmeier gave us was that Trump pauses Morocco phosphate duties to ease fertilizer risk.

Fertilizer Duties Headline And Reading

SPEAKER_00

If you know fertilizer, you know it's expensive. If you want to read more about it, Wiesmeyer can explain it better than I can, probably better than anyone. So go on over to Agbol.com. All of Wiesmeyer's stuff there is free. So it's awesome to get your information from a guy that knows so much like Mr. Jim. Go on over and read that article because I really think it is a good read. The chart of the day, we're gonna go ahead and travel over the pond to France and Europe. The 15-day rainfall could be next to nothing over there, and so it remains

kind of an ominous situation for summer row crops over there in Europe. But that's not the U.S. market. That's Europe. It's unfortunate, and we have to be aware of it, but at the same time, it's not our uh U.S. crop over here, so it might slightly affect ours, but you have to remember the sheer size of the United States and the amount of grain that we plant. So I think the effect there will be slightly moderate. Well, it's been great having you on this morning. I really enjoy getting to talk to everyone so bright and early to get them prepared for their day. I'm Jed Sidwell. I'm with Ag Squawk AM and Ag
